Braves sweep 'Stros...J.R. Richard dropped from rotation

Game 1

Tom Glavine and Rick Camp combine for a shutout in the Braves 4-0 win. Hank Aaron hits is 4th KOD12 home run and Joe Adcock add his second. Camp earns the 2 inning save. Joe Niekro goes 7 innings allowing only 2 runs, Danny Darwin allows the other runs in relief. Adcock's 3-hit day raises his average to .323.

Game 2

Houston Starter J.R. Richard allows 3 walks and a 1 before he can escape the first inning. His ERA rises to 19.23 and Manager Mike Johnson is demoting him for the remainder of the KOD12 season. Jim DeShaies and Ken Forsch combine for 8.1 scoreless innings to keep the Astros in the game but Braves starter Phil Niekro pitches a complete game and holds Houston to 2 runs. Niekro improves to 3-0, 2.03. Final 4-2 Braves.

Game 3

Brave starter Warren Spahn gets knocked around a bit, including allowing 2 home runs to Astros slugger Glenn Davis. Both Astros closer Dave Smith, and Braves reliever Gene Garber blow saves to send the game into extra innings. A RBI ground out by Felipe Alou gives the Braves the lead and Houston makes in intersting but can't pull it out off Tom House in the bottom of the 12th. Braves win 7-6.
